Young people in Newham, East London are receiving the support structures they need, thanks to the inspiring workshops from Fight For Peace an international charity that combines boxing and martial arts with education and personal development to allow young people living in areas affected by crime, violence and social exclusion, learn life skills and realise their potential.
Through martial arts, education, social support, youth leadership development and access to job market via training and referrals, these young people are leaving valuable life skills to shape their personal development for the future.
When the ACF visited the Fight for Peace base in Newham and met with its youth panel, teh trustees were so impressed it agreed to fund 30 ‘Junior Twilight’ sessions. These sessions combine boxing, personal development and mentoring and act as an early intervention to 7-11yr olds who are at risk of exclusion from school. The sessions are delivered in partnership with schools, and referrals are actively sought from other agencies.
